Intercultural learning: Let's talk about HIV/AIDS

Young people from Germany and Ghana met for two weeks in Ghana. Members from YMCA Nnudu  - a village near Akosombo - and CVJM Dreis-Tiefenbach (near Siegen) shared life for two weeks, starting with a one-week workshop at the YMCA center in Koforidua concerning the topic HIV/AIDS. Beside listening to basic information learning included a lot of small group discussion, case studies, and role play. The week was led by Matthew Amuzu (secretary of YMCA Volta Region), Rev. Alex Owusu-Addo (Dambai and YMCA Nnudu), and Gertraude Frank (CVJM Dreis-Tiefenbach). Rev. Michael Junk and Dr. Jürgen Flender shared with the group the week in Koforidua. One highlight of this week was a journey to the Cape Coast region with visits at CRAN projects, Kakum rain forest, and Brenu Agyenim beach. Another highlight was the development and public presentation of a role-play illustrating cultural and religious problems of HIV/AIDS. The Ghanaian group will continue the work on HIV/AIDS as local facilitators. According to the participants' feedback (photos) the central aims of the workshop were reached.
