Before meeting the Germans for a common HIV/AIDS-Training:

Interview with members of the Ghanaian group

Hello Juergen,

I was able to interview four of the Ghanaian participants, I asked them to tell their friends what they do and how they feel about their coming and a little about HIV/AIDS, which is theme for the programme. Here what they have for you.

Frank Addo is my name, and i work with the metropolitan council as a storekeeper.
Daniel Amardi, I work with a private consultancy firm as a Technician Engineer.
Mutalo Frimpong, a self employed maison.
Mavis Owusu, an account clerk on attachment with the Ghana Highway Authority.
 

You are hosting friends most of them you havn't met before, how do you feel?
Frank: I 'm excited and looking forward to meet them.

Amardi: It gives me much plessure to meet people from the same age group; but havn't met them before, looking forward to see them.
Mutalo: So happy, full of excitement to see friends i ve heard so much about havn't seen them before , i wish them a happy home coming in advance.

Mavis: It gives me great joy to welcome home this wonderful friends ours, ''AKWAABA'' in advance.

 

Hiv/Aids is the theme chosen for this programme, What do know about Hiv/Aids?

Frank: Hiv/aids is killer desease and has no cure.

Amardi: Hiv/Aids is a desease that has come to stay with us especially the third world countries its killing millions of people everyday.
Mutalo: Hiv/Aids is aquire through unprotected sex and sharing of sharp objects like blades knife ect.

Mavis: Hiv/Aids can also be aquire through blood tranfussion and siringes that has been use on an aids patient.

 

If your friend contract the Hiv/Aids Virus what would you do to help him have a better life?

Frank: I don't have ignore him or shy away from him, but i need support him and give hope that all is not if he could take good care of himself.
Amardi: I will council him and give him all the needed suport that he/she requires of me in order to ease off the pain he migth be going through.
Mutalo: will stand by him in every little way that i can, to suport him and to make him feel that he is still part of the society.
Mavis: We don't have isolate ourseves from them, we need to show them love and compassion.
 

One exceptional thing you will do to make their visit memorable?

Frank: I will stage a drama dipicting an aids patient, i hope to play the role of the aids patient.
Amardi: I will take them to a hunting expedition and teach them how to hunt for rats.

Mutalo: I will teach them our customs and traditions and will want to know their way of living.
Mavis: I will teach them some traditional songs and how to prepare some local dishes.

Mutalo: I'm particularly happy to welcome my lovely friends home.
Mavis: I welcome you home with love, see you soonest.
